You know what I realized the other day? My phone has become a junk drawer for my brain.
Seriously. I opened my email and had 6,413 unread messages. Most of them were from places I haven’t shopped at for years. I opened Instagram and saw a post from someone I barely know talking about “hustle energy” and “manifesting millions,” and suddenly I was spiraling into self-doubt… while still in my pajamas, sipping coffee from a chipped mug.
That’s when it hit me: it’s time to digitally declutter.
Now, before you picture me going full tech-hermit and smashing my phone with a hammer (tempting), I’m not saying I’m swearing off the internet. I love a good meme and a mindless scroll as much as the next girl. But what I don’t love is how cluttered, chaotic, and downright draining it’s become to exist online.
So, I’m doing a digital cleanse. Not the kind that requires kale or cayenne. The kind that requires a little courage and a lot of the “unsubscribe” button.

Here’s what I’ve been doing:
Unsubscribing from email lists like my sanity depends on it. If I haven’t opened your email since 2019, I’m out. I don’t need a coupon code or “last chance” to buy socks. I need peace. Unfollowing anyone who makes me feel like I’m not enough. This includes fitness influencers who think crunches are a love language and anyone whose posts feel more like a brag reel than real life. Bye, Felicia. Silencing notifications like I’m protecting my inner peace. I don’t need my phone to beep every time someone likes my post, tags me in a meme, or breathes near my comment. I’ll check it when I want to, not when my phone tells me to. Organizing my apps like I organize my spice rack, sparingly and with sass. I deleted stuff I don’t use, put all the “time-wasters” in one folder called “Think Twice,” and made my home screen so calm it practically says, “breathe, babe.”
And guess what? My brain already feels lighter.
It’s like cleaning out a closet you forgot you even had. Suddenly there’s room to think. To focus. To dream a little without a thousand distractions tapping on your shoulder.
Starting over at 47 doesn’t just mean decluttering your house or your relationships, it means decluttering your mind, too. And these digital dust bunnies? They sneak up on you.
So if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed by your phone, your inbox, or that endless parade of content that feels more exhausting than entertaining… I highly recommend the Great Digital Declutter. Start small. One unfollow at a time.
And don’t feel bad for hitting “mute” on the noise.
You’re not being rude.
You’re being intentional.
Your peace is precious. Protect it like the last piece of chocolate you hide from everyone else in the house.
Love,
Aunty Christine 🫶🏻💜🤟🏻
